Mann Upgrading the Utilization of Freedom
Resources
There are enormous potential freedom resources in the
world:
- The brains of freedom lovers and their knowledge.
- The material assets owned and/or controlled by freedom
lovers.
- The time and energy freedom lovers have available to apply
their resources to expand freedom.
Suppose a hypothetical freedom lover works in a
private-sector company, and the result is that 40% of his/her resources are effectively
being employed to support a tyrant-system through paying taxes, providing information,
etc. Suppose further that this freedom lover applies 50% of his/her resources toward
personal survival and well-being, and that he/she applies the remaining 10% to the
promotion and expansion of freedom.
The net effect of the above is that our hypothetical
freedom lover effectively spends four times the resources on tyrant support than he/she
spends on freedom expansion. So who wins?
Another way of looking at it is that the tyrant-system
effectively owns 40% of our hypothetical freedom lover's mind, body, and other resources.
Our hypothetical freedom lover might reason as follows:
- The only way I can pursue my career and earn a decent
living, is to work for a private-sector company.
- If I try to beat the tax man, chances are I'll go to jail.
"It is hard to fight an enemy who has outposts in your head." -- Sally Kempton
"The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed." -- Steve Biko
Now suppose our hypothetical freedom lover were to set up a sex site on the Internet in his/her spare time, possibly utilizing an offshore company in a tax haven. Suppose that after a year or so, the sex site pays as much as the private-sector salary, and the freedom lover exits his/her private-sector job and the tax system (as far as possible). Because some taxes are still being paid when buying gas, clothes, etc., the ratios now become: 5% tyrant support, 80% personal survival and well-being, and 15% freedom promotion and expansion. Now who wins?
I've heard that the two most popular topics on the Internet are sex and UFOs. It may be a good idea for some freedom lovers to get into the sex and UFO business. Maybe FFGs (Freedom Focus Groups) can be set up to focus on these areas. Such websites could explain why freedom is important and provide links to freedom sites, including BuildFreedom.com.
Such sites could be made profitable -- or more profitable -- by also encouraging visitors to participate in Freedom Business Opportunities.
A website that provides information on gambling, particularly how the gambler can get the "best bang for his buck," could be a great success. It could also encourage participation in Freedom Business Opportunities.
There are many ways to make money on the Internet. If you can generate traffic, you can turn that traffic into money -- as we do with BuildFreedom.com and the links to Freedom Business Opportunities.
With the advent of the Internet, it's easier than ever to survive in the real free-enterprise sector (or "underground economy"). I'm suggesting that freedom lovers shift more and more of their economic resources and activities into the real free market and that FWO/BuildFreedom may be able to play a significant role in this transition.
Note: Since this article was originally written, many more practical and profitable ways of shifting into the real free market have become available. See "Is the Private Sector Really Part of the Public Sector?"
I invite anyone interested in playing a major role in implementing the Economic Means to Freedom on a wider scale to contact me.
